It is very difficult to find people who have not used Android mobile phones. Although the size of mobile, operating system and various features have improved over the ages and many other things have changed, the current era is now for mobiles with Android operating system. At present, the popularity of Android phones is much higher. A survey conducted in 2019 on the popularity of Android phones found that 2.3 billion people worldwide use Android smartphones and Android has a market share of 74.13%. On the other hand, the market share of iPhone is 33.33% which is much less than that of Android phone. This survey shows how popular Android smartphones are.
A few days ago, a well-known university with 50 Android users to test on some of the apps in the Play Store that have been unnecessarily uploaded to the Play Store. In that test, 50 users were given RAM enhancing apps, fast charging apps, mobile memory enhancing apps and some other apps whose increase and decrease is only related to hardware.
Their mobile phones were monitored for 20 days by researchers at the university (with permission), where it was found that 39 out of 50 people had all their data going through an app on an unknown company's server. 6 people were being monitored directly through the app through their fonts and back camera. Only the gallery, contract and SMS data of the other 3 people was going to the server (each was tested by different apps in the same category). Let's see what happens if something like this happens to you and how hackers or these apps are taking data from users.
In general, we know that the things that are more popular are the things that unscrupulous individuals or groups pay more attention to. They also have their eye on Android smartphones. They have not left out anything from hacking to hacking or taking user data. Although they use a lot as a trap, the strategy that they use to benefit the most or can do the most harm to the users is the "Android app".
"We often see apps in the Play Store that are unfounded and a kind of temptation to take user data," said Ryan Malik, an IT analyst at Craft, a technology support organization that works to build a secure online platform for using Android apps. As we can see, there are many apps in the Play Store itself to increase RAM and mobile memory, but RAM or memory is all a matter of hardware, it is not possible to increase these by any app. Many more such useless apps are circulating in the Play Store and users are downloading without realizing it. Giving and using unnecessary permissions.
He added that an analysis has shown that many of these apps are taking a lot of data from users on their own servers and some companies are also selling their user data. One thing we need to keep in mind is that there are some things in mobile or computer that increase or decrease depending on the hardware; There is no way to increase these by app.
Almost all the features and services that we use on Android phones are through Android apps. We understand the need for Android apps. Some unscrupulous circles are taking advantage of that. The only thing they can do to get the trap is to develop a variety of tempting apps and put them in the Play Store. Many Android smartphone users download and use it without realizing it. As a result, different types of user data and information continue to flow to or from app developer companies. Analysis of some of them has shown that they are not just customer behavior, they are taking all the data from the mobile from the phone number to the gallery pictures.
Jennifer Alam, president of CRAFF, told Jugantar to warn Android phone users that there are some apps in the Play Store that are taking unnecessary and unnecessary permission from users. This allows users to take data very easily. On the other hand, the user is also keeping an eye on the behavior. The biggest risk here is that the data is going to third parties. So with user data they will be able to work as they wish, thereby violating user privacy. We will try to refrain from installing such tempting apps.
He further said, when we install the app, we will pay a little attention to which apps are going with which permission. In case of doubt, we will refrain from using those apps. For example, a simple RAM encryptor app seeks permission for a contract or gallery, or a fast charging app seeks permission for a microphone. These are the traps of taking user data. So you have to be careful in installing and giving permission to the app.
Let's find out what kind of apps can't be used in Google Play Store-
1. RAM and mobile memory enhancing app. It usually deletes the cache in the memory and gives you enhanced results.
2. Cleaner app. It is better not to use third party app unnecessarily. Cleaner is now available by default on Android phones.
3. Fast charging app. It also depends on the hardware but this system is now by default in the phone. So there is no need for extras.
4. UC Browser. This browser is sending all the data of the users to the Alibaba server in China and is showing various kinds of nonsense ads on the users' phones.
5. Some apps that require unreasonable and unnecessary permissions cannot be installed or used.
